A Blairsville woman was unharmed Sunday morning in frightening robbery incident in Burrell Township.
It happened at about 10:20 AM at her home along Chestnut Ridge Road when the 73-year-old victim was confronted by a man as she answered a knock on her door. The man demanded money but she said she had none, and walked him through the house to show him. She told the man she would drive him to an ATM to get him money, and she did, taking him to the S&T Bank branch along Route 22. She withdrew $300 from the ATM and gave it to the man, who told her to drive him to the area of the Chestnut Ridge Golf Course, where he got out of the car and fled on foot.
Indiana County District Attorney Pat Dougherty confirmed the suspect was armed with a gun during the robbery, and he believes that this was a pre-planned act, not a random act of crime.
The suspect is a black male, about 5-feet-8-inches tall, with a slender build and with clear skin and possible stubble on his face. He was wearing jeans, and a tan winter beanie and dark-colored hoodie that covered most of his face.
Anyone with information on the incident is urged to call state police at 357-1960.
